Pranayama for Life Course
This Pranayama course will cover 8 types of pranayama including; Bhastrika Pranayama, Anuloma Viloma Pranayama, Nadi shodhana Pranayama, Ujjayi Pranayama, Sheetali Pranayama, Sheetkari Pranayama, Bhramari Pranayama and Moorchha Pranayama. Theory as well as practice about these types of Pranayama will be covered to help give the student a better understanding of each practice. They will be able to understand how they are different and their roles in yoga. Physiology about the different pranic bodies, koshas and chakras will be discussed to help give the practitioner an understanding of the etheric energy that we are dealing with. Anatomy will be covered to show how the physical body deals with prana and how they are linked. Asana class will begin each day to help get the energy moving and to show the role that asana plays with the pranic body according to the koshas.
Students will be served a light sattvic vegetarian lunch each day to help enhance their knowledge and understanding on how the energy body works with the physical body.
This class is taught by Dr. Melissa Machnee, ND, ERYT. She has extensive knowledge and experience in pranayama as well as many other aspects of yoga. She will be incorporating naturopathy into this course as a means of helping the students understand the importance of nature with their own energy body.
*Students must attend all sessions and be on time to receive their Yoga Alliance Certificate for 15 Continuing Education Credits.
